Velux and Western Skylights

A natural source of light is always preferred to artificial and there is no better time to add a roof window or skylight to your home than while your roof is being replaced or built. Skylight Windows offer more than just another light source into your home. They bring a view of the outside world from inside your home. And many skylights do not require energy to operate. Even opening skylights only use a minimal amount of energy to open and close. Another feature skylights offer is a source of natural ventilation. If you would like to have one installed, we at Gerry Ray’s roofing have two brands for you to choose from. Call us today for a free consultation and we will go over which option is best for your home.

Velux Skylights

Velux are designed to be Deck-Mounted skylights and they come with a wood curb. These Skylight Windows are easy to install, even for homeowners. Simply fasten down the pre-attached angle metal to the roof deck, and you are ready to enjoy the beauty a skylight offers. Velux offers a variety of venting skylights; these skylights offer an efficient way to get rid of the heat that builds up inside your home without using air conditioning. Venting skylights can be opened manually or electronically.

Velux offers a leak free skylight assurance if their skylight flashing kit is used. A waterproof membrane strip is placed around the skylight unit prior to installing flashings. You will not have to worry about your skylight leaking.

Western Skylights

Western Skylights are designed to be Curb-mounted. These skylights are easy to install and feature self-cleaning glass. These skylights are fitted with an anodized aluminum frame. They have an interlocking PVC inner frame with weep holes on all corners, which gives these skylights the ability to be mounted in any direction. Western Skylights provide UV protection and are made of tempered, insulated glass making them ENERGYSTAR rated. To customize the look and feel these skylights are available in different tints and as an opening unit, using a hand-crank, pole, or electric operator.
